182 Thing Project 1970 RHD

Greetings,
Decided to start a new thread. With all the new projects on the go I thought it appropriate to get mine started. The rebuild that is, stripping it down was the easy fun bit. Now excited to get started on what is a very vrot 182 but a 182 none the less. So my current list of things to tackle:-

1)The pan was very rotten and was a fiberglassed bath tub mess. Cut out and sending chassis for sand blasting. Then install new pans.
2)The body itself is also quite bad with the usual rust in all the bottom parts where body meets chassis. Still deciding how to strip and fix this.
3)Had the front beam sand blasted and about to install adjusters. Have all new thing only ball joints ready to be pressed in.
4)New brake drums ordered and all new braking components needed as everything is original and very tired. No compromise here.
5)Trying out urethane bushes in the front beam as needle bearings for this and internal bushing rocking horse shit. Originals tired.
6)The list goes on............

Very enthusiastic, can not wait to see next installment.

Someone as brave as me taking on a job normally avoided by most.

Good Luck

Thanks Guys.
Ja Herman you have sparked the fire under my butt to jump in. Not right for you to have all the fun.
Its going to be challenging for me but it starts with the first cut and one has to be bold :?
With some guidance and advice from the forum I see nothing but blue skies ahead :D
Till the next post then.
Ciao

So I've had a lot of stuff sandblasted and very pleased with the results. Removed old pans or what was left of them and ready to weld in the pans.
My mate has a kitted warehouse with two post lift so Ive finally found heaven. Have all new parts ready to start bolting on.

Just makes live so much easier what a pleasure. So now the "put everything back together" begins. Still a long way to go but I think ive picked the easiest car to restore, I might regret those words  . Having said that the body is going to be a mammouth task and scared to see whats under the green paint. Plan is to work on it every Saturday what with work and children
Ciao

The commitment is the hardest part, the work just follows on.

Great work, and good luck with your build.

AND REMEMBER its YOUR build.

I don't see the A-frame Herman. It looks like you're just parking in front of the Thing, in the middle of the road! :D
