1978 SP Beetle Project
Ever since I was little, I dreamt about having a red SP beetle...so it finally happened.

Most of the important bits are there...just elbow grease required.

1978 SP Beetle Project

Some TLC required. I have already received a replacement dash to replace this one...some cracks at the top.

After some applied elbow grease the true colour emerges slowly...

Re: 1978 SP Beetle Project
Very nice! What does the upholstery look like? Twin carbs still in good condition?
Looks like all original. Only thing I think is not is the chrome strips on the side, if I remember correctly they were black/dark too.
Mine used to be an SP but was in a sad state and isn't original anymore.
Keep the updates coming.

No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

Re: 1978 SP Beetle Project
Hi Wentzel. I did see your post from when you started up...pity you couldn’t go back to original...the strips on the one side was black at some point but as you can see the black is gone. The original twin carbs are no more, instead 2 huge 36 or 40 Webers...will still try and find out the size. Upholstery redone to non-SP standard so I still have to make a plan with that. Seats and door panels redone brand new....but not to SP standard.Wentzel wrote:Very nice! What does the upholstery look like? Twin carbs still in good condition?
