Hi, hope i am posting correctly. I need HELP figuring out the break/tail light wiring. So far I can't find a diagram with my wire setup. Left has two red, one black and another thick black&red. Right side has two red, a black and green. I'm not sure which wires connect to which lights. ie. two red to break light? Thanks
Why not just measure them.
I would first see what is ground and then switch on one light and measure.
When that is found and sorted on to the next, till you are left with the last wire.
Wanted parts:
Left sunvisor
Sink faucet
Exhaust to swap for Beetle exhaust
With most car wiring the black is normally Negative /Earth/ body
But to be sure measure from the battery negative to the black wire and you should fined continuity with every thing else switched off.
Now as said, switch on one at a time and measure.
Mostly the one with the most wires would be the lights, as it would go to the other light as well as to the number plate.
The brake light would be the one with the 2nd most wires as this would go to the other light, and the indicators will have the single colour wire as it only goes one place.
But this is only a guide, you will have to test as it could have changed.

In old German cars like Beetle and Mercedes , ground/earth is normally brown and black is switched live, ie it's only live with ignition on. Eg, the wire coming from fuse 1 to the Coil is black.
