The other day I ran out of gas (gauge isn't working yet) on a busy three lane street. I'm next to the curb, and about to block traffic for at least 20 min. ----I cock the wheels , put it in reverse and use the starter to hop the curb (both front and back wheels) and park so my drivers side tires are just touching the curb and not blocking traffic at all!

I heard a story that you can do a reverse wheelie (rear wheels in the air) with a reduction box Bus

It is possible to move any car in an emergency by engaging first gear (or reverse in this case) and cranking the starter.

I have done this myself, but would only do it in cases of dire emergency.

Doing this is extremely hard on your battery and starter motor. It will take years off their lives.

Good tip!

Thanks. :)

I tend to go easy on the Starter...run it for short periods, etc.

I've come across guys who hit the starter for bludy ever until I think it's going to explode! :o

When my Beetle's clutch cable broke,I did the same. You drive up to the light, take it out of gear, switch off,put it in gear, and when the light goes green, take your foot off the clutch and turn the ignition. It gives a couple of jumps, starts, and off you go.

*I can also go up and down the gears without a clutch*
Damn,I'm good!
