Running wider tyres on a KG
My 67 KG had stock steel wheels shod with Continental 185/65 R15 which gave it much better roadholding thatn the original biscuits. I decided to upgrade the wheels and got soime beautiful 4 spoke EMPIs from JBugs in California. I then had the tyres changed onto the new wheels. Then I got really excited and put them on the KG only to find that they no longer fit undert the rear arches. The EMPIs are wider than the stock wheels. I really don't want to go back to anything smaller, particulalry as it is very difficult to get the orginal 165SR15 anymore (see my previous wanted post) and the quality of the Contis will be much better than what I get. Does anyone know of how I can get the wheels to fit with the Contis? Do I have to "adjust" the arches? I have seen something mentioend about shorter driveshafts which may work?

take a chance and go to one of those mag repair guys. Take the EMPIs with and fit them there to show how it doesnt fit. MAybe they will be able to machine off the tyre fitting area and move it inwards for you....
