Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
Morning fellas.
Our beetle sits high in the front. Looks odd. Is there anyway I can drop it a bit myself? The back is sitting nicely its just the front.

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
A stock bug does sit slightly higher in the front.
If you read up on the bug design, they were designed that way, but I can't give you a technical explanation. Helped with the handling.

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
the easiest way to drop it is to put in a 50kg bag of whatever....
Otherwise contact Calooker or Bugger, I am sure either of them could help you out.

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
its a case of stripping the suspension out, then taking it apart. Welding in some adjusters and putting it all back together. More labour than anything else. Then you can adjust it to stand any way you want...

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
There are a myriad of ways, the two most common being welded in adjusters - get the right ones for your beam (l/k pin, or b/j - of which there are 2), or drop spindles - which push the wheels out further - in some cases, making it an issue.
Those are the two most common, and by far the least complex.
Welding in adjusters need to be done by someone with expertise in the field...angles, location, welding, etc.

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.

At least us Type 3 guys don't have to weld in adjusters and all that witchcraft

We just have to adjust the front torsion bars 2 splines without cutting and the car sits at a beautiful stance

If it's too low, you're too old

Re: Lowering the front suspension on the beetle.
What do you guys have against the Type 3 anyway?
It's more aerodynamic and gives a better drive than a Bus or a Bug

This is indicative of the car, and the type of people who drive them...Blitzkrieg_Beetle wrote:What do you guys have against the Type 3 anyway?
