Uni tech Rods torq

This is what Cip sent me and I know fffffffffffffffffffolllllllllabout inches except my own tool

Torq setting for uni-tech arp bolts

5 1/6" are 30 ftlbs 30 is that 40.68nm and 5 1/6" =mm

3/8" are 45 ftlbs 45 is that 61.02nm and what is 3/8"in mm

yip, your torque values are correct...
I think (not sure) that Imperial bolts are measured by their head size across flats (AF). i.e. a M8 is measured as roughly 13mm AF
BTW, its 5/16"
Take a bolt to builders wherehouse or a decent store with imperial sockets and find out which one fits the head 100%.
Phone me after that and I'll compare it to the spec sheets I have in my garage and I am sure we can figure it out.

Are those the ARP 2000 bolts or just the plain ARP bolts?

Pierre you must check out the ARP website--- absoloutly fantastic!

All bolt sizes are the shank diameter, 3 /8" is basically 3X 1/8 now we all know that an 1/8 drill is about 3.2mm so 3/8" 3x 3.2 which is is 9.6 mm --nearly 10 mm!

5/16 is 5x half an eigth which is 1.6mmm x 5 = 8mm

All workings are as close as dammit , by the way!

Let me tell you, I torqued 3/8 " ARPs on CB unitechs and you can just poop while you are doing it. I pulled my rods to 48 ft Lbs with Loctite and thats faaaaaaaaaaken tite, let me tell you. Especially for the short threads
Worst of all, I could not get the 3 to 5 thou" stretch on the rods , measuring with an electronic vernier , which is clearly not the correct way to do it, so i just left them at 48ft lbs which to me is tite genoeg!

let me tell you, if us Ous had a bolt stretch mike available, and tightened the bolts by stretch alone, (which is the correct way !) we would probably have to have a few cold beers and a bucket handy to puke into, it would be such an intense experience , certainly for the first few times.

The spanner sizes and head styles differ vastly on stretch bolts - my ARP,s took a 12 mm socket had multi point heads

Amazing quality- But if I played with these things all the time, I would definitely get a bolt stretch guage!! Torquing seems quite hit and miss once you have read tall he ARP info and considered all the variables

For converting your own tool to metric, multiply whatever is is that you have by 25.4555 and you will have the CM measurement.

--Impressive results , no matter what what one started off with in inches !

The ones I got then are def the 5 1/6 and as to your cal =8mm
The bolt head is a 11mm socket so I will be torqing them 40.06nm right

And Tony gave me a 0.12mm stretch on the bolts

Gotcha-- yes This is the type of variance i came across all the time when check the torque story out on these rods/arp bolts. now your ad says 3/8 " but to totque to 40 ft /lbs

earlier your info said trq to 45 ft /lbs for 3/8"

Rui's info sed 45 ft / lb

Tony sed arp 2000 or just arp ?

So where are we now with all of this ?

let me flip a coin......ok, my opinion..go with Rui's. 150000 PSI 3/8" are set to 37ft/lbs, so 40 is probably too low for 200000 PSI. Again, opinion rather than spec.

Its driving me mad I have seen 3 different ads with these rods in and each one has a variation in thier torq settings
