Whatever you bring in will have a 40% tax added.

IOW,if you buy something of R1000(this excludes your shipping costs),you will be charged an additional R400.

Talk to Bugger or Calooker about spares and big bore kits.

So that means I must get use to having no power in the old Bug. Then a nice hot engine from the States is a dream on the horizon. There is such nice performance kits available but that is about R8000 flat.

in the past I have been hit with 20% import duties and 14% VAT. There is a limit which below you dont pay import duties. At one stage it was $150, but I cant remember what exchange rate that was.... I think it was R1400

Yeah, it was just a thought, seeing that I'm getting a damaged deutz fan for free

I'll just stick with the standard Type 4 fan in the Fastback...

I paid duties on my bearing kit that I ordered from the US. The kits were R1000 and I paid about R60 on them.

I've just ordered R3000 worth of porsche badges, scary to think what I'm going to pay on that lot.

I'm building a modded 2.0 type 4 and so far my budget of about R20 000 seems to be safe.......
