Chroming

Post by IceFire »

I need to rechrome some items on my Oval. Will it be cheaper to rechrome or purchase new? Where can I have this done?

Hey blits,
Reel your neck in my mate. The man asked a fair question, and you shoot a shitty "listen in class reply" at him. Not everybody lives in the forum like you do or has a photographic memory of every topic like you may have.

Its that kind of attitude that will make a lot of people end showing the forum a finger.

African electroplaters are the very best there is. but they charge a fortune for anything they do, which, taking into account the amount of care they take with parts is understandable.

I would try to re-chrome. The "new stuff" is usualy reproduction and the quality is not always as good as the real thing. New bumpers for instance look great for the first two weeks, but then start rusting if you don't polish them with every wash.
What do you need to re-chrome?
There is a product on the market called Autosol. It works wonders to buff up old chrome. Maybe have a go at that first.

No offense taken, Blitz. I need to rechrome my bumpers, the other items can be replaced. Where can I get Autosol?

Autosol is available from BMW dealerships, however certain panel beating supply shops also keep them........A mate gave me a tube a while back, used it on the Fasty's bumpers.Amazing stuff!!!
I'll ask him if he can get more and let you know

There is a hardware store in Pretoria road, Silverton. It's next to the Shell garage. They stock Autosol
