Tach/Dwell meter

Post by Dirk »

Right, I'm supposed to get one of these. I understand that they are used in order to measure RPM when adjusting idling speed.
But every motor shop I've gone to resulted in blank expressions on staff faces, when I as for a Tach/Dwell Meter.

They are quick to point me to the tachometer though.

Is this the same thing? Two ways of saying the same thing? Not the same thing?

Hmmmm.

After some googleing I believe I've answered my own question.

NO! The are not the same thing. Tach-Dwell Meter refers to the combination of a tachometer and a dwell meter.

Something like this: http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ITA ... y=19m5#faq.

Anyone care to suggest a reliable, reasonably priced model as well as supplier?

I recently bought a set from Auto Zone that has the Timing light, tach and dwell meter compression tester and fuel pump pressure tester in one kit.
