Lovely.
My brother has an '82 R100RT
Really nice to ride but parts are so expensive in SA I that I had to export him some from the UK.

Had one just like that. I had a 1969 the year they were first produced.

Excellent ride. With the lower centre of gravity I was able to out corner my CB750F.

Make sure your fork seals and oil is good. Also dontpanic because of the loud gear change it is normal.

Real Good fun. Enjoy

Nice! I believe they are technically not too much different than the WW2 versions?

I love any BMW bike. Only BMW I'll buy.
I fell in love with those all bikes and the beat of the engine.
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

have sent the bike in for a tune up and service.... I was battling to start it, I thinhk the one idle jet is blocked. You should see the price of spare parts on these things - Speedo - R3k (not working), headlamp shell - R2.5k (2nd hand), Chrome ring - R1.5k..... and it goes on.
The agents dont really deal with these, so have found an ex BMW maccy in Roodepoort

Yes I also had one like that (4speed ?) -Its the last model with speedo and rev counter in the headlamp dome and the funny umbrella key. I liked it more than the later model I had R75/6 --more touring style less gearchange activities.
Im convinced you will have a very enjoyable kms with it. You MUST do long distance trips with it because thats what its made for.
I have travelled this whole country many times with them.
cheers

Thanks, yes... 4 speed (and loud gear change as promised)... and the speedo rev counter in the light pod - much better than the later plastic pods.
