This was my first car!!! I destroyed that engine on a monthly basis due to over-revving....

GTS name made it all the way to the Golf III - the 'poor man's GTi' - yet a lot more sporty than a standard 1600 Golf

Me and Bugger used to cruise around lots of nights with my GTS, the headlights were so dim (aftermarket square ones with different grille) that he could light up the road better from inside the car with a torch.....

I liked the GT a lot - 2-door Golf with same colours and stripes as the GTS

No, I was stopped at a roadblock on Tuesday, where they scan your drivers lisence for outstanding fines, & I "passed" :D . One of our truck drivers wasn't so lucky! He was arrested at the same roadblock. R1900.00 in outstanding fines

Ditto-But the sad part is that there are not so many nice GTs left, simply because the guys insist on putting the modern CitiGolf fenders and bumpers on

I'd still love to own a MK1 GTI someday...

The Mk 1 GTi must be the best handling Golf I've owned, I had all of them up to 16V & VR6 Jetta.

An original Mk1 GTi is even harder to find than a GT.
