looks almost like a holley? perhaps with injectors? like they do with the v8's?

Looks like a Weber 36DCD with the special casted manifold from Carb city in Pta. Had the same on my bug a long time ago.Matt wrote:awesome...thats quite a mean 'fuelling' set-up, what is it? i can obviously see u got gas...but what carb is that?

The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

Re: MY 76 beetle engin
thats good to know...theres actually a place where i could buy that manifold? how much is it???
howd the bug run with that set-up? i could get my hands on a 36mm weber, not sure if it would work.....would the performance/consumption
be worth it???

Re: MY 76 beetle engin
The engin is still a 1600. The manifold i bought 2nd hand , it is a cast aluminium manifold for a 36dcd . If it is available in SA i dont know, all i know is that i have never seen a similar one anywhere. You do get it in "home made" , a lazer cut flange with stainlessteel pipe, also looks good. The 36dcd makes a bigger difference to the fuel consumption then the speed.I must also say that i have a heavy right foot. The sound and (109ah battery) other trimmings ads about 200kg to the bug and it stil runs off the clock with 225/35/18 wheels.

Re: MY 76 beetle engin
well....it looks awesome. i see u avoiding the "nos" topic, its cool...was just curiuos how a standard(if it was standard) motor would handle with "gas"
i saw quite an awesome beetle in the "caperush" mag a while ago-an orange one...had an 11kw shot of gas, seemed like that could be fun

Very cool looking engine. I like that airfilter modification....

Re: MY 76 beetle engin
The nos system on my bug is a 30hp one, in fact it is the same system as a 100hp single fogger only smaler jets . I was told it is safe aslong as you dont boost more than 80% of your engin power.
