TonyE wrote:Do the front first , that makes al the differance. I did my back a few weeks later and exept for the handbrake that realy works , braking is not that much better. The front is easy to instal. My bug is running with discs front and rear for the last 11 years problem free. The only problem i had was that the discs are a bit deeper in than a drum with a adapter so i had to put a spacer between the disc and the wheel.
Does it not get towed on a trailer?????

Re: Disc conversions
I read in an issue of speed and sound, that is preferable to do the fronts only, as doing the rear can SOMETIMES cause the car do loose control, or something. Has something to do with uneven distribution,.. So doing the fronts is just fine.

More than meets the eye!

Re: Disc conversions
Yeah, but I think it holds some truth. The back can lock up. And you hardly would feel it. A friend of mine had a mk1 gti, and that happend to him. Luckily the pavement broke his crash.

Re: Disc conversions
Yes bugspray, because that is a Golf. We are talking aircooled cars here! There are countless people who are running 4 wheel disc brakes with no issues.
