Here you go, again this was an import from Austria I think. Was a LHD wich was fun.. bought as a project lowered it and made the paint tidy but it was only a satin rattle can job...

So close, yet so far...
This car needs minimal work to get running, I just can't seem to find the time to work on it! In any case, i have some big plans for it, will be saving every little cent over the next couple of months to buy all the goodies that i need for it. As it stands, the engine is out, release bearing tube sorted out correctly, wiring all done and working (just needs final neatening) and a few other things that i can't remember at this hour. I'm currently drilling out the 3 bolts that hold the fan onto the fan hub, they would not come out using any normal tools known to man. After that is done, the other head can come off for a cursory exam and possible clean and the rest of the sheetmetal can be cleaned up nicely... Once the engine is together again, i can attempt to start it. Bear in mind that this is just a temporary engine to get the car running (refer to above mentioned big plans)

Thanks dude. Future plans include Jetta steelies, disc brakes, 2056cc Type 4 engine. It's very close to being drivable, it's all the small things that take time and hold up progress. I'm already gathering parts for the disc brakes and big engine - I don't think that i'm ever going to sell it, it's too close to my heart! That White Squarey was rotten, but anything can be fixed, i'm pretty sure that we'll find you a nicer example for not too much of money...

No problem with the hijacks, it keeps this thread alive
My biggest problem right now is time, I only have Sundays to work on the car. Don't worry Karma, it will be running before the Notch :)

 Time will see how this everlasting project pans out. I must say that fellow Type 3 brother Dirk really gave me a kickstart when he sent me an ultra long motivational email... I look forward to doing a photoshoot with your notch karma!

It's confirmed, this Fastback is getting a little bit of Porsche

Image

After much deliberation, I decided to buy these Porsche seats, instead of the Chinese reclinable bucket seats that Autostyle and other guys sell. I had a look at the Autostyle seats and was not particularly impressed with how hey are made - they are a little flimsy

In any case, after having these 924 seats re-covered, the cost will be around the same as the aforementioned Chinese reclinables, so I'm not really complaining

A big thanks to Porscheguy on the forum, got these from him :)

I was also very, very tempted to get an uber sweet Porsche steering wheel from him, but again, i'm falling into my old habit of buying goodies before the car is running, so with a heavy heart, I left the steering wheel

One day, One day 8)

The seats are still down in CT, but our ACVWSA Transporter Chris is making a plan to get them to me in PTA

Thanks again Chris!

Some random ramblings

On the engine side, I'm buying a set of rings from Hubcap, just to freshen the 1700 engine up.

I'm also gathering parts for my 2056cc build up - Have a gasket kit, cam bearings, Melling oil pump (pending), 71mm crank, pistons and cylinders etc etc

The 71mm crank is going to be sent away for polishing next week, have a contact who can get it done pretty cheaply

I have also picked up some CitiGolf calipers and discs (for free Nogal  ) and will buy the hubs and caliper brackets from Dave Roowley once I'm ready to do the conversion (after the car is running). I also have a full set of Jetta MK4 steelies, that will be fitted at the same time.

I had a pleasant surprise last week - Dropped the PO a mail and he told me that his father did the transfer of ownership into my name and paid the backlicensing. The outstanding fees came to much, much less than what I was expecting it to be!! 8)

I still need to go to the license department and get the new license disc, will get it done in the next week or thereabouts

So, now I have everything that I need, it's a matter of just putting it all together!Time is not on my side!!!
