Sleepy Time......

Post by Klaus »

Has anyone got a design for a pull out bed for a bay or better yet a R&R setup they want turn into christmas funds!

Taken out the middle row of seats for camping but just a little cramped so looking at making a better plan to ensure some back road camping trips this holiday season dont get ruined by grumpiness from lack of sleep !

I have that same problem. I still had my middle in but turned facing backwards so my daughter could sleep on it, but it's a bit cramped. I'm also keen on another type of seat. I'm reading a book called "Coverting VW Van or Bus to Camper" (or something like that :) ). Anyway, there is a pic in that of a fold down rear bench. The pic is small and there are no measurements, but you get the idea of what they did. If you remind me in 2 weeks time, I'll scan it for you when I'm home.
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

I don't have plans or anything, but you're welcome to come and take drawings/measurements of the bed/seat in my 69 westy.

Thanks Fig - appreciate it - does the bed in your westy have a spring mechanism on it or does it just slide out. This I check and VD Brink to see if he has an old one in need of some TLC.

No spring, just a system of levers. The mechanism kind of rocks forward and upward when you pull the bed open. Basically it does two things: firstly it pulls the seat base forwards and raises it, and secondly it lies the seat back down flat.
