Yah exactly my view, somethings are better left to those with experience. Ill do most of the work but safety is key.
How I wish we had a T2D here in sa

Its a pretty straight forward job, you just need a grinder and a metal shop with a cutting saw. Then its just ordering stuff from WagenW (The side plates, bushings and so on) and then just getting it welded up, shortening the torsions and re-dimpling them and volla re-assemble.

Re: Przybylski's Speed Shop Single Cab
Whilst I wait for some lovely folk to help me out with movement issues, I took delivery of this today:

1835 looking all pretty in red and chrome. I'll be adding the Engle 110 cam to it and the newly sorted dual 36 IDF's, but other than that, it will be run as is. Really hope the body work can start soon.

Thanks to Bugger, the SC will be moving shortly. In the meantime, I've been looking at options for the back and found this:

pretty clean, not badly priced at around 700 US from http://busware.biz/HOME.html
Thing is, I want to support local business, so anyone found a DECENT supplier locally who might be able to do a job like this?

u can try people like cavas suppliers or outdoor umbrella manufacturers. the canvas suppliers usually have an added service were they cut and finish to size.

Re: Przybylski's Speed Shop Single Cab
So some movement. It's been moved from Pretoria west to somewhere else in Pretoria. I'm still living in hope of finding someone with a car/trailer who can move it to JHB, but at this rate I think I'm just going to grab a rental and drive up myself.
To make myself feel better, I've ordered T2D's kit for the rear, since Splitfan will be doing some cosmetic work on the front beam, we can't be having her ass all large.

Oh and I've also purchased that 66 squareback from Pierre as I wanted the box + drums, so running wise this little lady should be sitting nicely on the road.

How are you going to add the Engle 110? Are you going to leave it in it's box and cable tie it to the engine, or are you actually going to strip that completed engine back down to crankbearings and line bore to put it in?dsan wrote:1835 looking all pretty in red and chrome. I look at installation of a new cam as a bit of an opportunity driven activity i.e. if you split the case, then stick in a cam.
But, the Engle 110 is a superb cam, no doubt about it. It makes a HUUUUUGE difference.
It would be nice to have T2D/T3D in SA, but the SA crowd would pay the prices. But still, they do really nice stuff. I've been to visit them a few times, saw their Squareblack and their Porsche/Notch and their super-slammed Brazilia. I also saw that super slammed Bay that they cut the body off the floor and rewelded it about an inch off the deck. They do some crazy stuff.

Re: Przybylski's Speed Shop Single Cab
there is only one man who will be allowed to say the engine is ready.
Some say his kids are named after KDF engine numbers.
Some say his bed is a unique replica of an original schwimmer.
all we know is, he's called the IMPI
So yes, Lord Impi has kindly agreed to give me an audience and add the necessary sparkle to the 1835.
I'm looking forward to the T2D kit, you are right, they do amazing stuff when it comes to veedubs

Re: Przybylski's Speed Shop Single Cab
I had some free time so thought i'd give the safari's a strip down and get them ready for paint. Gutted as it seems they have been bodged in the past and this has led to copious amounts of rust to destroy not only the screws but also the joins for the frame. Spent a good hour drilling out the screws from one frame only to see the extent of the damage.

now this leaves me in a situation. A new set will cost 400+ pounds, i've yet to see any for sale in SA and the ones I've seen so far leave me thinking that it's not worth it. Unless I can find someone who's really good at restoring the ones I've got, I think I'll be sticking with the standard windows up front.
So anyone out there know anyone willing to take on this restoration job of the windows?
