quick service, the usual bits replaced except the oil, waiting on the gasket sets. Got the old bird some new shoes, 165/65/15's at the front and 195's at the back.

Also decided it was time to replace the headlights, as the original ones are now royally stuffed (one pointing upwards, the other sideways). So ordered these from Cip1

and some new cool blue bulbs

windtramp wrote:glued foam to air control plates in ventilation box, re-assembled the unit and installed it ... BLISSS no more cold air "blasting" in thru the dash airvents at 0630 in the morning !!

also reglued foam to those flat plates/valves in the floorwell vents, reassembled the cleaned, repainted re-foamed contraption, and installed back in car .. magic .. no more frozen feet either.

if i cant get the heater to work i can now at least keep the cold air out .. progress 8)
Care to explain preferably with pictures the Dash repair process of the vents...the cold air is getting to me also.

Worked late today, threw a bit of a tantrum at the place where I had to do an installation and damaged LCD screen. Got home frustrated. Didn't trust myself to do serious work on the car. So.Made gaskets for tappet covers and oil filler. Cut them out of cork. With a bit of sealant , gaskets should work :)

Filling and sanding, filling and sanding. At this rate it's gonna take another month to finish - I don't envy panel-beaters at all.

Make friends with local auto paint supplier and ask alot of questions. MS primer is nice. Thicker and fill scratches. I used it.

Went to Pro Auto rubber to buy fender welts and fuel hose. Also had a look at their sound deadening products.

Then went to go and buy a Facet fuel pump. And a few other odds and ends too.

I'm going to be very busy this weekend. Starting from this afternoon, no opening world cup game for me

Been out here in Wellington for the last 2 weeks, and I have to admit, I have seen a number of good looking bugs. A pink one and a lekker simply done up blue bug. I so wanna trek back home and fiddle with Ol' Betty!!! :x

trying to sort license and reg. this week. seeing that i dont know that guy that knows the other guy  im going the long route. was not too bad except for a bit of runing around from one department to another.
1) police clearance- did not want to look at the car coz the motor could not start (condensor)
2) went back the following day and they wanted to impound the car coz it seemed like the plates was tampered with (also no stamp on chasis to compare the plate with) i them explained to the traffis that its a 46 year old car blah blah blah and then got the RPI form
3) now got weight certificate
4) a few minor things on the roadworthy side of things is being sorted (hooter, adjust hand brake cable)

once the roadworthy is done
1) back to trafic dep for RPC form and request to take car out of archives. this can take anything from two hours to two weeks
2)back to police clearance and then hopefully have my license

piece of cake :-x

i also discovered that my 66 was manufactured in 1964 :hangloose: and first licenced on the first of jan 1966.
