Re: Wrek Rescue - aka The Notch
Not painted yet, but confirmed today the upholstery guy has not yet sold my interior sitting with him for tuckshop money.
Had a small gap in work yesterday, and stopped at Van den Brinks.
Saw a good looking Notch bootlid, but when I turned it over to check the steel pressing you mount the boot latch to for integrity, my key went through it like a skewer at a marshmallow braai.
Had a look at a fasty bootlid (the part we need is quite similar), same story there... What is it with these type 3's ?
Found another bootlid, but even my untrained eye could spot the body filler from 20meters away.
Had a look anyway, I mean , I am getting a little desperate. Rust, rust, rust, but on close inspection, prodding and poking, lo and behold, no perforation! Had no choice but to take it. Never paid that much for rust before, maar nou ja.
Had my gardener/acvw flunky give the reinforcement and mount on the inside of the bootlid a light sand today, and although not perfect, it's pretty solid. The lid itself has a couple of dents, hence all the filler, but I don't think that would be a problem. Now I just need to get it to Bugoff to doctor and give a once over, but I think I can say, we have a bootlid!

Re: Wrek Rescue - aka The Notch
Went past Ferdi's place today.
Found him hard at work sanding when I arrived. The Notch had more bumps than a golfball when he started, starting to look nice and smooth though. Doors and bonnet are aligned really well, panel gaps look great.
Dropped off the fender welts and abovementioned bootlid. He didn't hurl the bootlid at me after he took a look at it, so I guess its safe to use
He popped it onto the car, and it looks like it does need a bit of work, but should do the business!
Paint can't be too far away now!!
