Testing Rotiserie for strength and DOES IT WORK??
Testing Rotiserie.jpg
Had to roll the bus out of the Garage as it would ave been to high if I loaded it on the trailer in the Garage even with my Garage door opening at 2.7m
Rolling out of the Garage.jpg

Rolled to the side so to inspect the bad rusted roof
Rolled to view roof.jpg

Given the under body its first sunlight since birth as I don't think this bus has seen this view before

Giving the Under body some 1st sunlight.jpg

After one hell of a mission we managed to get it on the trailer
I first tried rolling it on but would have damaged the sides of the bus
Then used tressels and bit for bit lifted it higher and pulled the trailer underneath and the same way down again

One hell of a mission loading onto the trailer.jpg

Now it is awaiting the trip to the sand blasters and I cant wait to see what is left of the bus after blasting
Hope there is metal left to work with

WOW Pierre! That rotisserie is seriously cool! Must have been a hell of a struggle to get it onto the trailer. Well-done! :hangloose:

Rotiserie looks very cool. Maybe you should send the design to one or two mines rolling splitties down hilsides

Actually not difficult at all only at one certain spot it wants to roll back from where it was rolled but that is why the safety bar is to keep it from rolling back
It was quite funny rolling it out of the garage hearing all the loose stuff (RUST) falling around

Must give credit to Lowlight and Fig who directed me to the rotisserie threads on the Samba for drawings and pictures :hangloose:

I actually might have a surprise in the pipeline have my Eye on a running Fleetline panel van
Even If I buy it I will continue with this project slowly as I will have a mobile bus for measuring and building stuff and use it in the
Fleetline in the mean time till the 66 is built then sell the fleetline

Question

Is the inside measurements of a 66 German Panel and a Fleetline panel the same
I know the back tailgate sizes differ

I want to use the Fleetline for template building Camping interrior bed etc and then must be removable perhaps to transplant to
The Feuerwehr project ? :?:

Apart from the area around the rear hatch, a Fleetline is identical inside to a 66 split bus.

I once built a removeable camping kit for a Fleetline panel that was locked in place by two wooden wedges. Knock out the wedges and the whole interior came out in seconds.

Well while thinking about the "Fleetline" on the way to collect the mind gears started spinning as the back tailgate was narrow and the door handles were fleetline pull type, but remember the front Badge panel did not have the Fleetline type pressed VW badge but a small Bay window type and nipple type front indicators then I called the Fig and spoke to him and then we discovered that it was in fact a late 63 model as the vin number is 1130335
Which is even better as I got a older bus than I thought :D

The Idea with the 63 is to drive it as is and carry on with the rebuild of the 66Feuer till the Feuer is driving and then probably sell the 63
The 63 just had the motor serviced by Vee motors by the PO but they did not do anything to the brakes as he did not wanted brakes done but just get it running as the previous time 6 months ago he drove it he got stuck with the bus. So He just wanted it mobile and that was where I heard of the bus that was for sale and made the PO a offer which he accepted and still paid for the service of 2.5K
He collected the bus from Vee and drove it to my spot

The vrou Kid and I went for a spin later this after noon and the left front wheel nuts came out and the wheel came out and did some minor damage to the dog leg :bn: :bn: :bn: and some other words I utterd
Phoned Vee but was told the Po did not wanted to have any brake work done so the wheels was not taken off which was convermed by the Po. So It was just murphys luck when we went for a spin

But hey here are some pics
The PO also only had it for around 1year or less Have any of you guys got info re the Previous, Previous owners or history on the bus :zhelp:
