Looking for EFI systems

I'm currently in the market for a EFI system and was wondering if anyone has used anything from a bike (superbike) on a flatfour motor.

I'm looking at something like a fireblade or something similar with two seperate throttle bodies with the injector position on the throttle body itself.

The main reason is that they have a throttle position sensor on the TB as well as the map sensor, plus they can be picked up for about R2500.

Anyone?

There was a guy on the ShopTalkForums who used a 45mm system from a ZX12-R on his Type 4 motor, am planning to do the same mod on my Type4 engine if the budget allows..

I saw this post a while ago actually........

If I buy a TWM kit from the states. I'm looking at about R15 000. Toyota RSI ITB's go second hand for about R3000-00, with pretty much everything.

This is something I'm interested in, the big thing is to find a suitable donor..It'll have to be something where I can split the unit into 2.

no you tool..........too much work is needed to get the RSI itb's to work properly, I'm currently looking into a set from a GSX'r............

Whatever you do, keep us informed and take lots of pictures!!!

It would be very, very easy to get parts from a GSX-R or CBR as they were sold in the thousands here

Well a bit more research has provided me with a fuel rail set-up and injectors from a 160i Honda for R200-00. I'm going to be cutting the fuel rail into two and threading the one side for the fuel pipes.

Now........600cc motorbike ITB's are actually a bit too small for my 2.0 set-up. They are usually 36-38mm, so I've decided to go bigger. Ideally I'm going to be looking for a set of 45mm ITB's and I have a lead on a a Kawazaki ZXR Ninja 1400. I'm told they have 42-45mm tb's, so who knows.

If you running a Type4, then the 38mm will be fine!!!From what I've read on the ShoptalkForums, Type4's need velocity, not size, so upto 40mm will be okay for you.2,3 and up need 45mm..do a search on the STF and see...

I was thinking the same until someone on the speedster owners club said that 38mm tb's would be unsuitable for my set-up.

I've still kept the 3 sets that I picked up and upon testing the TPS and map sensor on each tonight, I'll decide which one that I'll take, at the end of the day they're only costing me R800.

You'd be surprised how availible these sets of ITB's are........I found 4 sets within 1 scrapyard 10 minutes from my house.

GSX-R750 throttle bodies are 45mm

Guys use these on their cars as well, better than paying R7000 for Jenveys!!!There's a guy on the Gotech forum that has those 45mm t-bodies on his Ford Escort, check it out...

I saw the HMT website about two years ago, the thing is that we're limited to which ITB's we can use as some can be split into 2 seperate units, some can't.

I can get a pair of Jenvey's that use the IDF bolt pattern for about R2500-00 each if my mum brings them over, but then that's only the TB's, no sensors, no fuel rail, nothing.

I can't do much until I get my block sorted out anyway with the exception of collecting parts.

Again, on STF there was an Australian bloke that separated GSXR 'bodies and used them on his T4 that still had the standard cooling

Thing is, we don't know the exact specification of these motorbike sourced parts because that type of info is fairly hard to come by
