Thanks, H_R - had to pull a few strings, and wasn't allowed to go all the way to the water line, but what the hell - it surely beats the tarred/potholed roads of Gauteng! 8)

Well done Pine, the great feeling of completing a build, is only over shadowed by the joy of starting a new on......

Your buggy looks good, enjoy.

Got the SP (Beetle) steering wheel back from Speedline yesterday, and I am totally blown away! Those guys have done a very professional job in re-covering it. The small stitches are perfect, and the wheel looks brand new, even better than the day it left the factory some 30+ years ago. Interesting how they make the 'grip' part thicker - a glued nylon rope is wound around it, covered with sponge and then with the vinyl. As I said earlier, this is a birthday present (to Pine, from Pine  ) and I might have gone a bit overboard with it - but hell, the steering wheel is in your face all the time (while 'behind' the wheel), why not make it looking nice? I assembled it last night, using brand new stainless steel allen-head bolts. The plastic cover was polished with Black Back, and I am sure you'll agree the end result is lovely!
Pine, I know that this is close to 4 years ago, however do you still recall the ball park for recovering? What is speedline's contact?
Oh...another thing, how did you get around the horn button?

Hi Hloni - I think the best is to contact Speedline directly...

Nice... it's US twin looks like an identical mirror image. ("Right hand drive" versus "wrong hand drive").
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

What a historic moment last night when HW2 finally met the legendary GROENIE here in its hometown George!

Thanks for the coffee and cookies, H_R....wish I was a fly against the fender to hear what these two were talking about!

Call me a premature ejaculator if you want, but I already got my George Show certificate tonight and trial fitted it - ready for tomorrow!

Took some pics on a load ramp the other day to illustrate the off-road ability of an swb buggy. The vertical drop between the upper and lower level is 0.6meter
