This is a 4 channel amp.
You have only 1 pair of RCA outputs from your radio.
So buy two RCA Y-jacks (that way you plug one y-jack into the right RCA and you end up with 2 rights - it really is just a splitter). Connect these and now you have 4 RCA's (2 left, 2 right)
Connect the lefts and rights to the amplifier inputs
run your 6x9's from channel 1 and 2
run your sub in bridged mode from channel 3 and 4 (usually you connect the pos to 3+ and neg to 4-)

The remote wire from the radio is used to turn on the amplifier

I know that is oil filters and not air filters but all Fram stuff gives me the same horrible feeling. I wont Lie, I use their low pressure fuel filters but that is because they are cheap and adequate when it comes to filtering fuel(though I have seen the filter loose in a fuel filter). For the rest, not impressed...

Thanks Tony. We did a mock-up connection last night and got it all working. Now we have to get the bus ready to install it all!
Thanks JamesD for the info on those filters. As we mentioned, we are considering changing to a better quality filter; most likely a K&N.

Earlier this week my dad put a few more bits and pieces on the engine. Getting very close to installing now.

Today when I got home from school I saw my dad had done some work on the bus. He hasn't had too much work lately because of the weather so he has used the time to work on the bus. Today he sprayed the tank and the engine compartment. Here are some pics. He also soldered some of the connectors for the sound system.

Hi Cindy don't know if some body already advised you on this but you should close all the holes on your engine tine that wont be used to keep as much hot air from the exhaust out of your engine bay.

Back again!
Haven't been posting much lately due to a hectic schedule and some frustration in trying to get my bus together.
I have some really exciting news though. Today when I got back from school......
my bus was running
My dad eventually got an auto-electrician to come and do the final connections at the fusebox and switches after we did all the end connections and pulled the loom through. He struggled for quite some time to get the engine to fire up and only after changing the battery and starter motor and also taking the coil, distributor and module to be checked; re-earthing and playing with the timing; did he finally check the spark and then the fuses. The auto-electrician had a 7.5amp fuse in which had popped. Dad changed it to a 15amp, put everything back and it fired up. Starts up first time every time at the moment.
We are now trying to do a few of the smaller things to get it driveable.
We have replaced the indicator switch and stalk with one from a different bus which is causing a bit of a problem because it doesn't really fit. My dad is going to try and make up a cover which will double as a holder for it as well. It is a double stalk so the wipers are on the other side. It's worked out quite well because we don't have anywhere else for a wiper switch. We have also put in a cigarette lighter....not because we smoke, we don't; but so that we can connect a GPS or phone charger etc...
Someone told us that we should support the carb and that manifold with a bracket of sorts and so dad made one from an old hinge that he had in a drawer.
Tomorrow we are going for a surf or skate early in the morning and then some work on the bus before doing a bit of studying.
If anyone has a cover for the indicator/wiper stalks please let us know....i'm sure my dad will make a plan but a real one might look a lot better.

This weekend didn't quite go as planned but we still got some work done. We fitted a backrest to our box seat which doubles as an extension to make a bed.
My dad made a bracket to hold the wiper/indicator stalks/switches. It looks terrible but works a charm.
I cleaned the inside and also cleaned all the muck off of the cubby-hole and ashtray.
Dad also made an extension for the gear lever because he had to bend over every time he wanted to change gears.
Year-end exams start tomorrow so I won't have too much time to work on the bus but my dad might do a bit more because doesn't have too much work at the moment.
He'll probably do some more paint stripping and do some wiring for the sound.

We took the bus out for a very short driver today. It was exciting to see it go. It's very slow but I'll get used to it I'm sure.

Yep; one of those things. Education is very important. And yes, we took it for a drive. We would have taken it for another drive to KZN softball training this afternoon but it was cancelled due to the rain.
Dad never won his quote for the work in Swaziland and so is still messing with the bus.
Today he was busy making templates for the front panels. It actually seems to be a lot harder than it looks. He started with cardboard and that was pretty easy. He transferred it to Masonite and then the fun started. It must have taken 15 or so attempts and slight adjustments to get them to fit and these are just the templates! Anyway it has already changed the way the bus looks. It's amazing.
We will cover the Masonite with thin rubber sheeting.
