Baywindow Kombi windscreen rubber - German - feeler

Post by Tony Z »

Hi Guys

I am putting this out there for now.
I can get original quality German windscreen rubbers for a baywindow kombi.
R850 excl postage to you.

These are MUCH softer than the locally available rubbers.

Would anyone be interested?

Anyone interested in other rubbers? Cargo door for example?
German or Brazilian?

Would be keen on Fleetline panalvan rubbers kit if you can get the German set.

Thanks

Tony,

Is softer "better"? I seem to see small water drops on the inside of my windscreen in the bottom corners, which seems to come through between the window and the rubber? I've probably got a crappy windscreen rubber in, so I'd take one if this is the recommended route to go.

I'd be interested in at least one windscreen rubber Tony, as well as the rear hatch rubber.

I'd take a windscreen rubber for a 71 Bay, as well as two sets of sliding door rubbers for the same model if the pricing is reasonable.

Wow, alright, here I thought one or two people would be interested and the rest would say its too expensive, you can get cheaper at pro-auto.

I need part numbers. I'll go through my books to see what I can dig out, but if you have VW numbers lying around, please put them up here so I can get prices for the right items.

softer is definitely better. Once the rubber ages, it gets hard and then it doesnt seal as well anymore.

OK, here are some part numbers that I have found. If someone can confirm these as correct???

Engine lid seal / deck lid seal- 211 827 711 C
Left cargo door seal - 214 843 791 B
Windscreen seal - 211 845 121 D
Rear windscreen seal - 211 845 521 D
Door seal left - 211 831 721 D
Door seal right - 211 831 722 D
Rear door seal / tailgate seal - 211 829 193 E

I use the Pro Auto window rubber, and as Alan Patterson reported, because the rubber is so hard, at the bottom corners the water makes its way inside under the glass and into the cab on some of my kombi's if the fit is not 100%.

The sliding door rubbers are not available from Pro Auto to my knowledge. Their door rubbers can sort of work, but are not ideal.
