75 Baywindow Project

75 Baywindow Project. Started more than a year ago now.

This one came from a settlement just behind Barrydale. Body was very solid, had a few rusty spots under the windscreen, side windows and behind the rear bumper. There were quite a few dents and quite some major damage to the bottom of the sliding door as the rollers were broken and it obviously fell off many times.

Engine was not so good though. Firstly it was a microbus 2.0L with all it's tin cut up to fit baywindow engine bay. Carbs, links the lot were absolutely trashed, everything was bent and damaged. The motor itself is also rubbish. Fins are broken off, dropped valve seats, crank play and not even heads that match. One is a CU and the other a CJ head. Not to phased as it was the body that is worth while.

Checks lekker, seems to have minor rust. Mine was worst! Good luck with the project.

Looks good. My bay was a worse sight for sore eyes. See the did the same as on my bus. Attached the gooseneck for towing directly onto the rear bumper!

Well, I see as per my first post, it has been exactly 5 years since I started this thread and the bus is now finally complete. I took it for its first drive this week.

I changed colour in the end. Decided to get this one done and go with a different colour to what it was.

The colour is Aqua Marine, probably one of my most favourite colours offered for a bus.

I did the spray job about 2 months ago which came out really nice and just spent the last while installing the drive train, exterior fittings etc.

Here are some final pics I took yesterday.







The engine is a 2.0L type 4 which has been rebuild, but back in 1998 by Andreno motors. I just replaced the oil seals, but otherwise the motor is still going great. I had this motor waiting to be used in a bus again. I have managed to balance and set the carbs pretty close, but still got a little bit of fiddling to get them 100%.

I was a little indecisive with the interior, but decided in the end to go with white. The creams and brown would not have gone well with the outside colour......
