i have been meaning to post this for some time now , Now that Jolas (Paul) has shown me the "easy way " to upload pics it made it a lot simpler than before to upload so many pics for you to enjoy !! so finally here is the thread....
i have been very fortunate to be invited by one of my Suppliers to visit the "Siam VW Festival" as a guest in Bangkok on two occasions. It is an awesome show with a huge vw air cooled attendance and some guys even drive their AC VW's from Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia to attend !
You get to see all types of vehicles from Rat, show condition, original to slammed (with air-ride suspension). The festival is over a period of three days with the main event on the Sat afternoon, because of the heat ( around 42 Degrees, with 70% humidity and very little wind) it only kicks off around 4pm and run well into the night, there is so much to see in such a short time that some pics were taken at night !

Even the Royal Thai palace has it's own collection of AC VW's including some Buses and a fleet of type 182 RHD VW Things.
enjoy !

This is a double door Samba ! quite a rare bus , RHD

This Bus was a complete original RAT ( all rust on it was Original !

These Type 182 RHD Things belong to The King , and are maintained by the Royal Palace, nice collection

Some interesting Bugs !!

This Black beetle was exceptionally nice ( little bit of blistering on the rear fender) but overall very Nice !

well restored 23 window , awesome Bus

The only mistake i could pic up was the overhead vent control lever that is fitted on the wrong side of the overhead vent. otherwise , Faultless !!

very nice "Shorty" Well built ! even the drop sides have been well shortened, Great Work on this one , i like the colour !!

Slammed Baywindows !!

Yet another well restored single cab.

This is a nice panel (used to be an ambulance) ...the colours seem to work well as a single colour bus !

Nice Crew cabs ..

Yet a few more nice looking splitties ..

A few more random pics...

and this was a real dog !!

A few pics of some of the parts for sale at the swap meet....(very overpriced, R5000 for a restored gauge !)

If you thought buses were expensive in SA ....have a look at this one, For sale @ TB790K which equates to around R380 000 "as is" with some very badly rusted areas! the left front dogleg is in very bad shape and you can see the tyre through the bodypanels !!
Then again it is a Camper "Wesfaria" according to the seller !

lastly some Arial pics supplied by the festival ...

I sincerely hope you enjoyed seeing such awesome V Dubs, as much as i did traveling all the way there and attending the festival ! It goes to show ..VW aircooled is very much alive all over the world.....

i also went to Indonesia and visited a very interesting restoration facility there (got some great pics from that trip too)

...at least not all my posts are "Abrasive"
