Hey Farhaad, thanks, good to see you also still visit! Any new exciting projects your side? That reminds me, small update: bartered a replacement steering box, now to find time to fit it
, and then all I need are some tyres, looking for 175/50/15, not that common apparently...

Thanks bugspray.
That reminds me, anyone have a connection for tyres? 175/50/15's is what I have in mind. They seem a little hard to find...

Re: Wreck Rescue - aka The Notch
It took a while, but found a set of 175/50/15’s.
Had them fitted, balancing and alignment done, and at the same time replaced the worn out steering box.
I also had the ride height raised back to standard.
Result - no more rubbing of tires on fenders even over speed-bumps.
I also had the brake master cylinder overhauled, rubbers were shot to the point of failure, electrics checked and sorted (interior lights, fuel gauge, intermittent starting that sort of thing had to be taken care of), carbs balanced and given a service (including overhauling the left leaky carburettor), and various other niggly little things.
Took her for a spin yesterday after all this was done, and as you can imagine, feels like a different car. Even the wipers work (had to test them in the rain). Turns out the Notch does not have a defog button, who knew
. The vent window helped a little, without getting me too drenched. Was fun to drive though, and it now handles like a car, not an ocean liner. Golf 1 disk brakes in front does make this litte Notch stop on a dime, even in the wet (no doubt the new tyres makes the biggest difference).
And done just in time to take her for the occasional spin in December (and carry on tinkering). On that note, anyone convert the fuse box from the standard ceramic to a blade type before, how big a job is it?
