Is there any special trick to removing the big bolt holding the fan onto the alternator?
I don't really fancy standing it on it's nose and clamping it in a vice to stop it turning.

I have a Hammerite shroud fan on offer by the way.

Oi, old fart, listen up...do you see the word "chrome" anywhere there?Tony Z wrote:if you do it yourself without an impact gun, the best way to stop the fan turning is to install the pullet into a vice. Put the belt into the pulley, without any shims and clamp the vice onto the belt.
Use this method when putting the fan back on.... but I suspect an impacter is the only way to get the fan off without doing damage or using lots of 4 letter words
