Been away a loooong time. First my adsl connection packed up, no wait, first the pc packed up, then the adsl. All working again now. Work is keeping me very busy - Time spent on buggy: about 2 days a month

Struggling to fit the motor around the rear pipes. F@(KEN S&!T What a pain in the back!!! REALLY!
I must have taken that rear bar out about 6 times to get the dimensions right. First few times I had to jack it up to reach the shock towers and the car is so light I had to attach it to a tree and jack it side ways to reach, then cut the pipes and tack it on again, then take it out, weld, try and fit it - doesn't fit, jack it, cut it, weld it OK you probably get the idea.
Still need to get it right - not a perfect fit yet AND I still need to fit the end-mountings of the motor.
Built the front lights, still need to figure out how to get the rear lights working - got a set of (I think) around 1965 new taillight lenses. (The small ovals with the indicator included.)
Been "swotting" turbo setups trying to get a good combination of cam + turbo + heads
Been trying to source type 4 parts from some local shops. Conversations go like this:
" hello so and so can I help you?
Yes, - I' m looking for a stroker crank for a type 4 vw aircooled motor.
Sure sir, is that a mark 1 or 2?
No, it's the type 4 aircooled 2 liter
Golf sir?
No, aircooled.
But mark what sir?
Mark nothing, TYPE 4!
Sorry sir, no stock
click"
But - no worries - as the aussies say. I'll get there in the end.
