With my car still at the paint shop and crankcase at Bruce's place i was getting a little frustrated about not being able to do anything so i decided to refurbish my speedometer so long, nice little project.ImageImageImage
It wasn't looking toi bad but when i tried to turn it with a piece of the old speedo cable it wouldn't budge. Tried all kinds of penetrating fluid and i didn't want to force it but no luck. I'll have ti open it up.

I opened it up cleaned and polished the stainless steel bezel and surpirising enough the rubber seals were in perfect condition and not perished at allImage
Since this will be a total restoration and new motor i went ahead and rolled back the odometerImage
When i opened the magnetic cup i found the old grease was rock hard and that's why it wouldn't turn over. ImageImage
With everything cleaned up i replaced the indicatir and warning light gels and cleaned ip the case a little, it was a bit tricky to get the little needle back into its brass bushing but she came out nice.ImageImageImageImage

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

Okay so I'll post a few pics. I started off by building some wooden beams that i can rest the shell on, allowing me to get good access to the pan and front suspension without wasting too much space.Image

The original tank looked like a siv, managed to find one right here on ACVWSA, not 100%, had some dings and dents but all importantly, no rust. Stripped old paint and had a friend braze on a fuel return bung. It then got dipped in Chemloch rust remover and i finished the inside if the tank with an epoxy based tank sealer i got from Henry Kinnear, same stuff they used to seal inside of aircraft wet tanks. Then came a nice shiny gloss black.ImageImageImageImage
