TPA83 is not a VW VIN. Sounds more like something allocated to a recovered stolen car (remember the TPA?).

Didn't I answer this question in another thread?

Give us the numbers on the plate behind the driver's seat (if it's what I think it is) or give us the correct VIN as sramped in the engine compartment or on a plate somewhere in the cab.

That TPA number is NOT a VW VIN.

You have given us the info from the registration papers, which do not necessarily reflect what's on the car.

What is the VIN on the bus, and where is it? (Stamped in engine compartment or on plate in cab.)

TPA stands for TRANSVAAL PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION in other words, these were the old Police numbers when the car was a stolen and recovered car, or a reintroduction.

Aaah, a fellow Fleetline owner. :)

I'm a little fuzzy today, so best you wait for Fig to dig out his book of M-codes.

You have a 1975 Fleetline 15-window Kombi, made in Brazil and assembled in SA. Yours is number 741 of about 5,000.
