Werner Alke from the Jacaranda Beetle Club - he did mine on HW2, and you have seen it.
You get a LOT of credit if you bring him your front beam already clean and disassembled

Werner was supposed to have made me an A Frame, somehow he lost interest as he is too busy but damn this guy is good...I am going to call him to see if he would make it....Pine wrote:Werner Alke from the Jacaranda Beetle Club - he did mine on HW2, and you have seen it.

Re: king pins-link pins
If you look at the pic below, the king pin is the shaft that runs vertically, and on which the stub axles steer (ie turn), the link pins are the horisontal axles (two per side, removed in the pic) on which your suspension travels up and down:zubz wrote:btw guys, what is king pins/link pins?

Re: king pins-link pins
Thanks Pine for the pictures. Those look like split kombi type, with needle bearings for the linkpins.
Beetle types do not have needle bearings at the linkpins.
Remember, it is VERY important to grease the front suspension at least every 5000 km. Every oil change service should include greasing the front suspension, as was recommended by VW.

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Re: king pins-link pins
Thanks Dawie, it was just a generic pic I got from TheSamba. Needle bearings on the link pins sounds like a good idea, wonder why they discontinued it?
